Treatment of PFAS in stormwater detention pond used for irrigation
Project Details
- Location: Peterson AFB, CO
- Project Dates: 2017 - 2020
- System: Floating pump with suction strainer, solids separation, bag filtration, 4 parallel trains of GAC pretreatment and IX resin vessels in a lead/lag configuration.
- Services: System design, commissioning, and rental, continuing support, and field services for the duration of the contract.
- Key Challenges: PFAS comingled with hydrocarbons, VOCs, and SVOCs, detention pond contained small fish, water column contained a substantial amount of floating and semi-floating debris following high precipitation events, sediment and biological fouling, land application of treated water, occasional extended shutdowns during low precipitation periods
- Outcome / Result: System performed to specification. Worked with client during commissioning and startup period to successfully address debris, sediment, and biological fouling concerns.
